12 THINGS THAT I FOUND OUT AFTER BALI TRIP

(yea,i added 2 more as a punishement for updating late)

1.in all honesty,before this trip,bali to me is probably like hair extension to minnie mouse wth.unnecessary and not super interesting.i've heard all the hype about it and saw its beautiful photos all over the web.

it's one of the places i would want to visit before i die but not in the priority somehow.aiya,i dont really know how to explain it.i was soooo excited because of who i was travelling with.it was the first time i took a plane with friends :)

the reason why bali wasn't in my priority list was simple.what do you think of when you hear bali?sun,sea,water sports,sunrise and sunset,cheap seafood and booze.

.

other than the last two reasons,the rest was terrifying.everybody knows how much i hate the sun(hello!premature wrinkle,freckles and skin cancer.do any of that sound appealing to you huh huh huh!?) i am not really into sports and the thought flying with only some strings attached to a boat does make me feel some adrenaline rush.not in a good way.and i cant swim for nuts.if someone kidnap me someday and ask me to choose between getting disfigured and swimming,i'll err..err....k,maybe swimming isn't so bad afteral.*feels uneasy

but all that changed on the first day itself and i find myself not wanting to go back to singapore so early :(

2.in bali,if you see zebra crossings and use it to cross the road leisurely the way you do it in singapore or with a smug face ppl would want to punch,you will wound up as bowling pin.sorry to say but zebra crossings are only decorations in bali.sometimes,traffic lights too.ohh and left and right signal in a car is almost nonexistent and is replaced with honk instead.

3.find a driver that can be trusted.i think you can find it online cos doris found one to drive us all the way to lovina(about 2 and a half to 3 hours away) from 3 in the morning and there were not street lights at the...hmm...what do you call that arh?you know,those road going uphill and turn here and there like genting?

if anyone is going bali,just drop me a nose shit or buzz me cos i can introduce you the driver we had for 2 days.if you want to find a driver there instead,be careful cos we found one conman who promised 6 hours but gave us 5 only in the end and mumbled alot when we ask him to drive us to certain areas.

we forgot to take a photo of the disgusting driver but he looks like a cross between shrek(evil version) and gollum.and kept pronouncing 's' as 'sh'.so he might go,"i'll bring you to your hotel for shebenty thoushand".

4.what pops up to your mind when you hear the word underwater?

.

for me,other than the word drown and dead,it's the image of mermaid ! (talking about mermaid,one of my fave hk movies is 'mermaid got married' starring christy chung and ekin cheng.super cheesy but i ♥ it)

pretty mermaid being graceful underwater..swirling around as though you're dancing..happy sea creatures..NEMO ! (okay,wrong movie but you get it)

sorry to burst your bubble,but you look anything but graceful or pretty when you are underwater.especially with that mighty tight diving suit that you struggled for a full half hour to put on.especially with that mouth of yours wrapping the breathing apparatus like popiah for your dear life.especially with that diving mask that stretches your eyes to slant it,further accentuating your oriental feature.especially when you can't swim and didnt move much in the water.apparently,according to one of my travelmates,i looked like a corpse being dragged in the sea T____T haih.

and that's mj playing with bubbles(actually she's just breathing so that she wont,you know,die),me with my right eye censored out by possibly another PMS fish(they keep doing that to me!) and doris advertising her nonexistent ring.

5.since we're at this topic,i might as well add this.some fishes are such bitches seriously.i thought they're timid and cute and fragile being but NO!some of them are so brave to bite me!someone that's 343241248723 times their size!no matter how i fling the bread they still wanted to take a bite of me *death glare.

we were brought to one coral to take picture and i saw this pretty fish in purple and yellowish and it freaking bit all of our hands -___- *shakes fist in anger

can you see that fish near doris' hand?yeap,that's the one with major PMS problem.

6.ask anyone in bali where's the best place for seafood and they'll tell you it's jimbaran.unless he's a conman trying to bring you to one of his 'friend's' place to get commission

but,jimbaran bay has like,3 beaches joined together i think.from what the the local from the middle beach told me,kedonganan is where the 'atas' ppl dine whereas mwarya beach is more economical but tasty nevertheless.the difference in price is caused by differences in terms of the service and drinks i suppose.

that's our dinner on the first night.it was soooo good we wanted to come back on the third day only to end up at kedonganan.but its okay!we managed to find the place for last dinner at bali.err the dinner on the second night is not even worth mentioning.

the din din at kedonganan.i look like shit here thanks to the 3 hours of sleep i had the night before.

7.i never get why ppl would want to get up so damn early for sunrise.compared to sunset,the timing is much more impossible but yet they both look the same in pictures.if you show me a picture of sunset and then a sunrise and ask me to guess which is which i might just punch you in the freaking face....err,no la i'm not that agressive and hostile.i am err err timid and gentle(wth) and softspoken(WTH WTH) in real life.REALLY.

back to topic,the feeling of watching both are different.other than because you feel damn sleepy and possibly a little pissed off at the person waking you up when watching sunrise and normally freaking hungry(i dont know why!) when you watch sunset,i personally feel that sunrise is slightly more..exciting?like,you have a whole new day after the sun has risen.am i making sense to you?

9.bali is a sensual place?perverted one?..look at this.

this is counted as the mosre mild kind.there are probably about 20 of those perverse(or artistic,i dont know..)potraits more revealing than this one all over the hotel on the first storey itself.

10.horse-riding,though scary and exciting at first and quite fun after that can leave you with very painful erm pet pet area for at least 4 days after that.but its worth it cos i had the horse that's most tame and only i got to ride on a galloping horse ! on my own ! *smug face

11.choose your spa there wisely.some spas are more renowned than others and there are reasons for it.we went to this spa to get full body massage,facial,cremebath(something like treatment for hair) and manicure pedicure and ended up being pressed here and there with no rythym whatsoever and get our faces rubbed with tablecloth and ended up with more pimples than before T___T also got world's most ugly nail polish colour which get scraped off easily the next day.

12.once you do something brave,the rest are just peanuts.on the second day,we went for water sport(gonna go into detail next time) and banana boat was first,i was so scared that i held onto the rope till my palm almost had blisters.after the flying fish i got so macho i wasn't even nervous for diving wth.if you don't know what flying fish is....this is it.

see,i told you once you do something brave,the rest is nothing much.never in my life have i thought of holding a bat.SEE SEE !!thought i'm not brave enough to hold a snake.i think i'd just have stroke right away.no thanks.

hmm,this post is actually half done using my lappy,half done using someone else's.i was halfway doing it and someone appeared out of thin air suddenly to fetch my laptop to sim lim to add RAM.can't wait for it to come back !
